Skin care is a major concern for most people. That’s not really surprising, since there are thousands of skin care products on the market and more popping up every day. Makeup, moisturizers, lotions and soaps are just a few of the categories that they fall under. Unfortunately, though, many of them could actually be hazardous to your health. That’s why using certified organic cosmetics and skin care products is so important.
Unfortunately, a lot of people make assumptions about commercial cosmetics, such as assuming that they’ve been regulated or tested. The problem with that assumption is that the cosmetics industry is barely regulated by the government at all. The FDA does regulate them, but they regulate them the least of any other types of food and drugs that they cover.
If all of that information worries you, good. You should be well aware of what you’re applying to your body, after all. That’s what makes certified organic cosmetics, which are quickly becoming more popular, so important. They’re much safer than commercial products, in general.
To put things in a little perspective, in Europe there’s a list of 1,200 substances that can’t be used in commercial cosmetic products. You wont believe how short that list is in the USA. It consists of only about ten substances, in fact. That’s a staggering problem, especially since many of those substances can be hazardous to your health.
Organic products are much healthier because they don’t contain any harsh chemicals. They’re made out of all natural components, assuming that they’re properly certified as organic. Everything about them is regulated, including the manufacturing process. All sorts of tests have to be passed for them to be certified.
In fact, there’s a specific certification called BDIH that you should look for. That certification proves that third party testing facilities authorize a given product as organic. Remember that there’s a difference between an organic product and one that contains a few natural components.
One of the things that you need to realize, for your own safety, is that store shelves don’t indicate safety. Just because a product is being sold doesn’t mean that it’s safe. Just look at all the junk food out there, for example. People diet to avoid junk food, but you may not have ever thought of avoiding junk cosmetics.
So, the reality is that, if you’re serious about skin care, you should buy certified organic cosmetics. Not only will that prevent you from further damaging your skin, but it’s likely to improve your skin health much faster than commercial cosmetics would. That means a much healthier look and a much healthier feel to go along with it.
