The true good news is: upon brokenness the gift of life is but a whiff away.
The real success stories of this life are admittedly and wantonly broken people; not that they remain there in contempt of God, yet they fling those darts of condemnation back where they came from. Those darts have no place in the residence of God.
A NEW PURPOSE SPOKEN
We only need to be redeemed once to understand, and therefore believe, there is a Higher Power working over our lives, uniquely interested in us as persons.
God uses these experiences to speak the idea of revelation into our lives.
Only will we know what the Spirit will utter into our spirits. And if our new purpose isn’t clear, gleaming with clarity, our purpose is to find that purpose. This is done in the joy of the Lord; a newly fashioned hope indwells.
LIFE’S ESSENCE REVEALED
Such an obvious truth in life is easy to miss. In fact, we are all bound to forget this at one time or another.
Life’s essence is revealed in the fact that life is not really about us at all – a truth made real to me first via Rick Warren’s, The Purpose Driven Life (2002), book. When God has broken down the door and walked into our hearts, we learn this. There is so much more to life than our petty ‘needs’ and requirements. Indeed, God always provides what we need anyway and the moment our perspective widens we see for real this “spacious, free life.” (Romans 8:6 )
Brokenness is a prerequisite for the revelation of life’s essence.
It is good news to be broken – if, through that, we meet God.

How do you achieve a healthy lifestyle? What types of fuel does your body require to enable you to a healthy lifestyle?
It is a known fact that balanced diet can help prevent Diabetes, Heart Disease and some Cancers. We are constantly being told that obesity has reached epidemic proportions. Therefore, it is so important that we all look closely at what we are eating to reduce these health risks. Be familiar with reading the food labels before you buy a product. I can guarantee that you will be amazed when you read the food labels at the amount of hidden sugar and salt present, particularly in processed foods.
What does a balanced diet mean?
It means eating the right amount of food and the correct portion size, as well as eating a range of foods.
Foods essential as part of a balanced diet include:
Meat, fish, poultry, eggs, pulses and beans and non-dairy products. Proteins found in meat, fish and poultry are essential for growth and energy.Eat at least two portions of fish every week, including one portion of oily fish like mackerel or sardines which contain Omega 3 essential for cardiovascular health and better brain function.
Fresh fruit and vegetables. Eat at least 5 portions a day. These foods also act as roughage or fibre, essential for bowel elimination and also contain vitamins which can lower the incidence of heart disease and some cancers.
Potatoes, pasta, rice – preferably choose the wholegrain options. These are carbohydrates or starchy foods that give you energy, but should not be eaten in large quantities.
Dairy products, milks, eggs, cheese, contain calcium necessary for bone growth and prevention of osteoporosis. Substitute low fat ranges (instead of the full fat varieties) in milk, cottage cheese and egg whites to help reduce your cholesterol (Have your cholesterol tested, as this can be a contributory factor towards heart problems)
Cut down on saturated fat and sugar. Try canola oil and pure olive oil for cooking. Extra virgin olive oil for dipping or salad dressings.
Eat less salt – no more than 6g a day for adults.
Check all food packaging for sugar, salt, cholesterol, saturated fats and calorie content.
Don’t skip breakfast. A healthy breakfast gives you the energy you need for the day. Need some ideas – Oatmeal/porridge made with skimmed milk and include nuts, seeds and fruit. Boiled or poached eggs with wholemeal toast (low fat spread). Wholemeal cereal with fruit. Granola or museli (make your own).
Do not shop for food when you are hungry, you will be tempted to buy foods that you should avoid, because you are hungry and need a quick fix.
Hydration is also important for waste elimination and renal function, Green tea is high in anti-oxidants, African Rooibos Red Tea is a caffeine free tea also high in anti-oxidants. Stay clear of fizzy drinks as they are loaded with sugar. Don’t allow yourself to become thirsty, keep a bottle of water on hand to keep well hydrated.

It is important that you have some dietary advice, particularly if you are over-weight. There are weight loss clubs that you can join such as Weight Watchers which is renowned for its successes and is very reputable, plus it is a great way to meet other people, this can be very motivating.
Regular exercise is also essential. Start with steady exercise initially such as walking or swimming. Set yourself some goals, build up your regime over time. If you lack the commitment on your own, join a gym or a club.
Try and combine both aerobic and muscle strengthening exercises.
Aerobic exercises can include, swimming, running, power walking, cycling or take an aerobic exercise class. Muscle strengthening exercises would include, weight training, working repetitions, yoga.
It is very important that you do not over extend yourself initially if you are not used to exercising.
Be determined to succeed. You will be amazed how much better you feel after a few weeks. Not only will you notice the weight loss, but you will feel more energetic and of course you will be healthier.

Many believe that, as the autumn rids the trees of leaves, the herbaceous borders of their plants, and signals the approach of winter, the garden fades out of existence. However, this is a time of great change in the garden and one which you can fill with glorious colour if you’ve carefully selected specimens to add some vivacity to the bland tones of the colder months. Throughout the year Callicarpa offers a rather generalised green to gardens, with its leaves and stems not significantly adding much but structure. At this time of year though it is the herbaceous plants that are in rampant abundance, and Callicarpa’s soft green leaves are a welcome backdrop. However, it is upon flowering in June and July that this wonderful plant starts taking on another appearance. Clustered around the stems collection of tiny pale purple flowers emerge, bringing surprising colour which is just noticeable through the canopy of leaves.
It is when autumn approaches and Callicarpa drops its leaves that this stunning plant really comes into its own though. Ripening berries turn a luminous purple as if painted and polished with a manmade colour. I find that the berries can last almost all winter as most birds don’t tend to find them that appetising, allowing you to glance out of the window and be drawn by the wonderful hues. And set off by ice and snow you’ll find that Callicarpa is an amazing plant to enjoy both in a border and even in a pot as I grow it.
Name: Callicarpa (Beauty Berry)
Thrives In: A hardy shrub, Callicarpa is suited to both sunny and partial shade positions. You can plant this species in a border where it’ll happily thrive, though I grow two smaller specimens in pots with ophiopogan planted around the base.
Yearly Care: For younger plants little maintenance is needed as you can allow shrubs to grow naturally with some slight pruning here and there to ensure that a desired shape is kept. There is no need for berry removal as they’ll automatically drop, and other than pruning back when at its desired height, leave Callicarpa to thrive.
Growing Medium: Callicarpa can thrive in both well drained and heavy clay soils. However, it prefers an acidic medium, with alkaline positions causing its leaves to turn yellow.
Quick Tip: I prefer to grow smaller shrubs in pots. This means that you can move specimens around the garden in winter to get the best backdrop to show the vivid purple berries against.

So what are Parabens and why have they become a health concern?
Stories about parabens in cosmetics being harmful to health have come into the spotlight more and more recently, and we really should take heed of the warnings. Parabens are a chemical compound of para-hydroxybenzoic acid. They occur naturally in foods such as blueberries, prunes and cinnamon however the parabens you find in cosmetics are synthetic. It has also been suggested that parabens act like oestrogen (hormone largely found in women which is essential to the menstrual cycle), disrupting the natural process. Allegedly certain concerns in men such as a low sperm count alongside a decrease in testosterone can be directly related to the intake of parabens.
There has been a massive public and scientific interest about parabens. Yet despite a large number of clinical trials to determine the toxicity of parabens, to date, there is still no conclusion.
